This is the first book of an original series of military/international spy thrillers featuring Thomas Gunn a former Special Forces operative trained in covert operations, assassination and international espionage and his partner Julie.
In The Orange Moon Affair, Thomas Gunn's idea of a quiet life aboard his cruising catamaran with his partner Julie, is shattered with the news of his wealthy father's murder. Determined to uncover the truth behind this ruthless execution they follow a tangled web of clues from his father’s company in Northern Ireland to a mysterious microelectronics company in the U.S. and a heavily fortified ex-Russian submarine base in Estonia.
With each new revelation the mystery and danger increases, forcing Thomas to call on his old skills as a Special Forces operative to keep himself, Julie and their investigation alive. Manoeuvring around corruption at the highest levels of government they uncover a brazen international conspiracy that threatens the very power-base of the western world.
This explosive discovery is deadly, thrusting them into the path of an unknown enemy with more power and influence they could ever imagine. An enemy out to destroy them! Who are these ruthless conspirators? How are they connected to his father? And what dark secrets from the past will Thomas uncover, in his relentless quest for the truth? You’ll be kept guessing to the very last page!
As the son of an MI6 operative, former officer in Britain's elite Parachute Regiment, pilot, yachtsman, race car driver and world traveller AFN Clarke brings his own unique and eye-opening experiences to this novel.
Authors Note:
The Orange Moon Affair is dedicated to Terry Forrestal, ex-SAS and brother-in-arms, may he rest in peace. He was a fine soldier yet had that streak of larrikin in him, so I think he'd like this book and the character, challenges and exploits of Thomas Gunn.
Book length: 256 pages.
The author never gave you a place where you were not so involved in the story you could actually set it aside for more than a few minutes ... I cannot think anyone would not enjoy this novel ... A true "Save the World" plot that Ian Fleming would be proud of is just part of this fast moving train so enjoy the ride. ... Get this book, you will be glad you did as I was pleasantly surprised. Douglas C. Meeks, Amazon Top 500 Reviewer.
This was an enjoyable thriller...with thrills and wonderful unexpected twists...they surprised me. Full of action, international travel, corporate excitement and plenty of murder... These are fast-paced books that you won't want to put down and you won't want them to finish. Jo Reason, San Francisco Book Review.
The characters are thoroughly and richly developed and really make the story come alive.…The writing is brilliant … and you will be waiting with baited breath as you wonder what will happen next. The plot is very fast paced, but not hard to keep up with at all. In fact, you will feel like you are there, having been taken into an entirely different and exciting world. The Orange Moon Affair is the first of a series, and I can't wait to read the rest!
To the elite of fictional espionage heroes such as James Bond, Matt Helm, Johnny Fedora, and Jason Bourne, we can now add Thomas Gunn. This story bristles with excitement and action, and with a rather interesting character at the centre.
The writing is crisp and fast; characters are well developed and the plot has more twists and turns than an Italian mountain road. Clarke knows how to develop a full character in just a few short pages and by the time you turn the page the character is an old friend who just seems to belong in the story. AFN Clarke is probably the number one writer of action/thriller novels and I can hardly wait for the next instalment.
The story is riveting, thrilling, and exciting. It is also thought provoking … The Orange Moon Affair is the first in what we hope will be a long series of adventures. If you haven't read it, you are missing out one of the best books in the genre.
