When Nikki Kimble’s mother dies, she is left with a deep sense of loss and an aching desire to find her father Jake, who disappeared from her life when she was only three. She goes in search of him, hoping for answers to a lifetime of questions. But when she finds him aboard a battered yacht in the Florida Keys, their worlds collide and sparks fly, threatening to destroy the fragile bond that hangs like a thread between them.
As their lives start to unravel they find themselves in the path of a deadly hurricane, perilously adrift in a raging sea on Jake’s damaged and leaking yacht. Fighting for survival they face off, and emotions run high as they are forced to discover the truth about each other that neither is ready to accept.
Dedicated by the author to his daughters, this powerful dramatic and deeply moving novel about family relationships explores a courageous journey of self discovery, the fragility of human emotions and the strength of the human spirit to overcome seemingly impossible obstacles that life places in our way.

This is the first book that I have read by AFN Clarke and it most certainly won't be my last! Clarke's writing is so beautifully descriptive that it transports the reader into the story.
An absolutely beautiful story that will stay with you long after the last word is read! I highly recommend this book!
AFN Clarke captures a father and daughter reconciliation in a poignant, gripping, and heartfelt way. It's a story which mirrors the journey many of us take in life in order to come to grips with our relationships with our parents, family members, spouses, lovers, children, friends, and for some, our addictions. His ability to immerse readers and provide them with a full sensory experience is probably why I found myself with tears streaming down my face as I finished reading it. I highly recommend it.
AFN Clarke tackles the topic of family breakup and the father-daughter connection honestly and with great sensitivity and understanding. He takes the reader on a "movie like" journey … I was totally immersed in what was happening as it evolved and was particularly touched by the evolution of the relationship between the two having lost my own father a few years ago. I still feel the hole in my life and the connection that will never go away. It's that connection that the author writes about so well.
I love this author's writing style! He truly puts the reader right square in the middle of each scene, whether it be action-packed, a description, or a facial expression. Color. Intrigue. Suspense. Movement. Emotion. It's all there.
The reason I bought this book was because a year ago my father passed away but we had a lifelong struggle to "get along", he chose the alcohol over his daughters … it is one year of healing from my own parent’s death and all I can do is praise the author for helping me release emotions I did not think I had and bring value to how to deal with death.
I was unprepared for all that the book held secret until I read it. What a wonderful surprise! (AFN Clarke is a new author for me) … Every one of my senses was engaged … And, this remained true for the entire book.
